Self-care is a huge movement these days among the health-savvy.  I say "these days" as though it didn't exist in the past. Of course it did, but it was different. You know? Because we lived in different times. The old adage "drastic times call for drastic measures" comes to mind here.

What I mean is that our current technological, physical and even spiritual world is simply going at break-neck speed. And I don't know about you, but as a busy mom to a young person who demands a lot of time and attention, I find it all pretty overwhelming and often find it an epic feat to have a shower, get dressed and make food for the day, let alone doing all of the creative and business items on my 'to-do' list.

There's no doubt about it: self-care is a real and necessary (read: critical) part of parenthood. We simply cannot serve our children, our families or our communities in the way we would like if we are not resourced.

And yet, as someone who has been a chronic avoider of nourishment and taking time out for myself (putting my own oxygen mask on first) and as I dig deeper into this self-care phenomenon, something becomes evident. Self-care is really just a form of CARING.  About anything. About anyone. As one of my brilliant teachers @gurujagat says "what do you have when you take away the word 'care' from self-care?  You have care". Nuff' said.

The whole point of doing any of the things we do to nourish or care for ourselves, is so that we have the wherewithal (the energy/fortitude/chops) to care.

Enter essential oils- one of my favourite ways to say "I care". I care about the earth, I care about my family, I care about my community, I care about myself. Essential oils are the primary line of proactive healthcare in my home and (when combined with herbs) have given me so much confidence in treating my family naturally and effectively. They are my go-to resource for virtually every health ailment, everyday rituals and my beauty regime. My trusty oils are like my side-kick. My Kemosabe to my Tonto. My Thelma to my Louise.

Essential oils are the darling of the modern beauty world (and for a good reason).  Did you know....
